That’s not a great surprise: the 3DS game you use them with, Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, also launches here on the same date. Each pack will contain one “special” card, although it’s not clear what that means.

Currently, it’s unclear whether or not this event will be worldwide; but considering 7-11 is a global franchise, my money says it’ll most likely be coming to western releases of the game.
It was confirmed some time ago that Animal Crossing amiibo cards will be sold in packs, but their distribution is quite different in each region.
The packs will debut in Japan later this month on July 30 for around 300 yen each (about £1.55). We’ve seen prices of Magic the Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Pokemon cards over the years that are more rare, and you know Nintendo will make some cards near impossible to find.
Judging by a package design uploaded to Nintendo of Norway’s website, this is just the first in a series of cards the company has planned for Animal Crossing. The villagers are your clients, they come with their own dream homes and it’s your job to meet their needs by designing their locales. The cards bring new characters into the game, which in turn bring new challenges and other items for the players to interact with.
