People say the train that arrived in New Rochelle at 7:20 a.m. was so packed that some simply gave up on trying to get on board.

Metro-North Railroad announced Thursday it will be returning to its regular weekday schedule Friday. Once completed, a number of tests runs were performed, the railroad said. It’s unclear how many of those drivers normally would have taken the train.
Cuomo said the fire was extraordinarily hot because a generator initially caught fire and ignited chemicals from a garden supply company.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority, which operates Metro North, was investigating what materials were being stored under the Park Avenue viaduct in East Harlem, spokesman Aaron Donovan said on Wednesday.
This Wednesday, early morning commuters dealt with delays at Grand Central Terminal in New York City.
Metro-North resumed normal service in and out of Grand Central Terminal Friday for the first time since a fire erupted under tracks in East Harlem.
One firefighter suffered a minor injury when he slipped, but no civilians were hurt. The damaged column, located near the centerline of the viaduct, is an older, multi-piece “built-up” column design notable for its lattice-like steel appearance; portions of the column date to the initial construction of the viaduct in the 19th century, according to Metro-North. Crews are installing six temporary steel columns.
Jessica Ruscigno said trains were more crowded than usual the last two days, but it was “not quite as bad as I thought it would be”.
Passengers are warned to expect delays and crowded conditions and commuters are asked to work from home or make other travel plans.
While a Metro-North train passes above, work continues underneath the tracks at the site of a fire in New York, Wednesday, May 18, 2016.

The railroad says it will run a Saturday schedule for the Wednesday morning rush hour with trains stopping in the Bronx so passengers can connect to subway service into Manhattan.
