Rift Growing Between Sanders, Democratic Leadership
“There are issues of enormous importance facing the people of California and our nation and the people of our largest state deserve to hear the Democratic candidates’ opinions”.

If a ballot does not have on it the name “Bernie Sanders”, writing in his name will not result in a vote being counted for him. Reid expressed dismay that Sanders supporters had acted so belligerently.
“We expect a lot of people whether it’s 10,000 or 100,000 whatever it is”, said Bruce Carter, founder of Black Men for Bernie.
Sanders has already pushed Democrats (and the entire national dialogue) in a more progressive direction.
What happened in Nevada was complicated, but New York Magazine summarized it thus: “56 pro-Sanders delegates were disqualified for failing to register with the state party by May 1 (eight Clinton delegates suffered a similar fate)”.
No one’s arguing Trump has become soft, has abandoned his rough-around-the-edges uncensored tough-guy persona, but this week, he and the Republican National Committee announced their joint fundraising agreements.
On the campaign trail, he routinely criticizes Trump. The shift to a more traditional fundraising approach could draw ire from some of his supporters.
Clinton said she would not engage with Trump when he takes shots at her husband, former President Bill Clinton. “I’m not going to be responding”, Clinton said.
The vice president also refused to blame Sanders for an outbreak of violence from his supporters at Saturday’s Nevada Democrat state convention. Clinton won the caucus.
Looking at the Nevada clip, Boxer seemed more angry than afraid, but it’s not hard to guess why a Clinton supporter would want to recast events to make it seem as if Bernie Bros have lost their minds. Others applied chalk graffiti to a party building.
Asked if she should reach out to Sanders to work things out, Clinton said: “I am absolutely committed to doing my part”.
Peace has seemed possible: After her April wins in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and DE, she said: “Whether you support Sen”.
Lange received the threatening calls after Hillary Clinton won the state Democratic convention by a few dozen delegates.
Pledged delegates may be allowed to choose any candidate in subsequent rounds of voting, USA.gov says.
And Welch acknowledges that the Sanders campaign might have to realize after the California primary that they will fall short of winning the nomination.
On Capitol Hill, Manafort and other Trump aides met with conservatives in the House of Representatives who are members of the Freedom Caucus group and canvassed them for policy ideas. He condemned the violence in a statement but also said the Democratic Party has a choice: “It can open its doors and welcome into the party people who are prepared to fight for real economic and social change – people who are willing to take on Wall Street, corporate greed and a fossil fuel industry which is destroying this planet”. The Democrats’ system of rewarding delegates proportionally means that – as a matter of pure math and because there are so few contests left – Sanders can not prevail. Turning the pleas of party unity that some Democrats are making around, Merkley said that the rift in the party would only deepen if Sanders was driven from the race now.
Weaver’s statement and those made by Sanders himself didn’t use just the right words, didn’t address it the right order, weren’t firm enough – and most of all they wanted to keep the focus on the unfair practices that prompted the frustration to begin with.
The broader message of this year’s campaign season is that voters are fed up with the establishment in both parties, and rightly so.

“Our campaign has held giant rallies all across this country, including in high-crime areas, and there have been zero reports of violence”, Sanders said.
