Centre, Delhi announce relief for slain NDMC officer’s kin
Expressing his deep sorrow and grief on the murder of M.M. Khan, Deputy Law Officer of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday announced an ex-gratia amount of Rs. 25 lakh next of kin to the slain officer. He was killed on May 16. Khan sustained a bullet injury to his chest and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died. His killing has left the police baffled about the motive, whether he was murdered due to personal enmity or professional rivalry.

Mohammad Moin Khan was allegedly shot dead in Jamia Nagar at a crowded street on Monday evening when he was his way back home.
Mr. MM Khan, aged 57, was working as the Assistant Legal Advisor at NMDC for the last five years. The police are checking all possible angles of the assassination.
According to the daily, Khan was under huge pressure after he had refused to clear the case of a hotel in the NDMC.
Mr Khan’s relatives told police that he had been receiving calls from unknown people during odd hours of the day. Police had recovered his mobile phone and the call data was being analysed, an official had said. Incidentally, 10 days before Khan was shot, Tanwar had written to Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung demanding his replacement, alleging his “illegal” and “biased” handling of a case was causing loss to the civic body.

Kakkar reportedly sent his subordinates to NDMC office and asked for a meeting with the civic body’s vice-chairman Karan Singh Tanwar, said sources.
