The 42-year-old former Cy Young victor, whose hitting style has become a bit of a running joke on social media in recent years, recorded his first hit of the season – a two-run home run to left field in the top of the 2nd inning off of Padres SP James Shields.

He becomes the oldest person to ever hit a home run, eclipsing Randy Jackson’s record who hit his first home run aged 40 when playing for the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2003. Asked if he was surprised by Colon’s turning on the fastball, Shields said: “Next question, man”.
Cashner (2-3) allowed three runs and nine hits, struck out one and walked one.
The shot had an exit velocity of just under 97 miles per hour and a launch angle just south of 35 degrees, but perhaps the best statistic of all was the almost 32 seconds it took Colon to round the bases.

Colon’s home run was certainly special, and the moment is definitely worthy of having its own card.
Cespedes homered for the third time in the series, lining a solo shot off Andrew Cashner into the left-field seats leading off the third. As Yahoo Sports points out, the record was nearly even more impressive as Colon turns 43 in a couple of weeks. While his helmet continued to slip off his noggin, Colon hit respectably.

He hit just two home runs in 531 at-bats in his career and had batted just 29 times all season with an.080 average as a backup infielder for the Cardinals.
