Curry, Thompson, Lead Warriors Past Blazers, 125-121

Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry celebrates after scoring against the Portland Trail Blazers during the first half in Game 5 of a second-round NBA basketball playoff series Wednesday, May 11, 2016, in Oakland, Calif. “That’s the theme of the last two years”, Curry said. Draymond Green had a typical night, posting 13 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.

Damian Lillard led the way with 28 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. With an advantage on the boards (47-44) and the three-point shot falling (16-of-36), Portland managed to keep up with the defending champs most of the game.

“We knew it would be a dog-fight every game”, he said.

Curry sang Thompson’s praises after his fellow All-Star’s overall performance in the Warriors’ Game 5 win against Portland.

The Warriors will play the victor of the semi-final series between Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Finals. When accepting his award, Curry got emotional and spent a lot of time talking about his wife.

Thompson led the Warriors with 33 points, hitting 13 of 17 from the field and six of nine 3-point attempts.

“He wasn’t emotional and a year ago he was very emotional”, Warriors coach Steve Kerr said of Curry before the game.

I think sometimes the word “valuable” or best player of the year, you can have different results.

“I’ve gotten really good at ignoring people”, Curry, the reigning MVP said in response to a reporter’s question about James’s comments. Aminu would give the Trail Blazers their own run with eight-straight points of his own in the second quarter with a layup and a pair of threes to make it 47-38 Portland. Allen Crabbe had a surprising 20 points and was 5 of 7 beyond the arc. They carried us the entire season. “Not one time did we doubt their ability to score”.

Thompson responded with 10 of the next 12 Warriors points. Toronto can clinch its first conference finals berth with a win in Game 6 in Miami on Friday night. “We’ve always been pretty confident from the beginning of the season that we were going to be a competitive team”.

So, what’s next? “Let’s go win a championship”, Stephen Curry said.

It was DeRozan’s franchise-best 13th 20-point game in the playoffs and his sixth this postseason.
