I wanted to win the Premier League this season, but the atmosphere from February when the club announced the new manager was maybe not the best atmosphere. “Everyone was accepting what would happen in the future and we lost two very important games at home”.
City had to settle for winning just the Capital One Cup this season and yesterday got the point they needed to qualify for the Champions League having gone out in the semi-finals this term.
Swansea welcome the visit of Manchester City to the Liberty Stadium.
The expected final-day battle between City and Manchester United did not materialise as their rivals’ match against AFC Bournemouth was abandoned after a suspicious package was discovered at Old Trafford.
“One of the most hard things to finish this season was after they announced this club will change (manager) next season, was the atmosphere inside the team”, Pellegrini said.
Pellegrini finished by thanking the Manchester City fans, to whom he threw his City suit jacket at the end of the game, for their support in the last few years.
After joining in on the traditional end-of-season lap of honour, Guidolin said: “It was a fantastic moment for me on the pitch with players, families and children and in front of our fans”.
Manuel Pellegrini says there is no bitterness as he prepares to hand over the reins at Manchester City to Pep Guardiola.
Heading into the final matches of the Premier League season tonight, the lucrative final Champions League place is very much still up for grabs with three teams still in the running for a place in Europe’s elite club competition.
In a match that held little significance for the league table, the former and current champions played out an entertaining game in which both teams created a number of chances.
He joins a club “that deserves to be in the Champions League, and it will continue to improve”.

“I felt emotional because it was a very special day to finish this cycle in the club’s history and it is not easy to leave”, Pellegrini said.
