After surrendering most of the first five rounds, Alvarez smashed Khan with a counter-right hand in the sixth round that rendered Khan senseless before his body collapsed into a heap.

“This challenge came and it was very hard to turn down”, Khan said.
“Khan’s definitely one of my favourite fighters, (because) he dares to be great”.
“I was unfortunate that I didn’t make it to the end”, he added.
Amir Khan has vowed to fight on after his brutal KO by Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and wants another world title shot against Danny Garcia.
Amir Khan also tweeted to congratulate the victor, while he also said thanks to his fans around the world. “Amir took the risk and set the tone, fighters should fight each other”.
On numerous occasions, Alvarez cited concerns over fighting Golovkin at 160 pounds after fighting 5-straight times at a 155-pound catchweight.
“I’ve got the Garcia fight there, I’m still (in) the mandatory position with the WBC, that’s a big fight for me”.
“I’ve tasted defeat and I’ve won some fights, but I know now what mistakes I made”.
Khan came out of the gate strongest, winning the first couple of rounds before Alvarez was able to begin making his mark in the third.
After it was over, Alvarez came over to the ropes and gestured to Golovkin to come into the ring, as if to say, “You’re next”.
Khan leaves the ring, apparently suffering no lasting damage from his KO.
Las Vegas: Ahead of the biggest fight of his career, British boxer Amir Khan has asserted that he wants to be the biggest name in the sport.
England’s Khan participated in a post-fight interview with HBO’s Max Kellerman and left the ring without any assistance. “We will call you”.
“You want to win by knockout, but you don’t want to hurt anybody”, he said.
Alvarez, who has now improved his record to 47-1-1 (33 Kos), is now expected to fight unbeaten Gennady “Golden Boy” Golovkin, who was at ringside for Saturday’s fight – a prospect he welcomed.
