Ella Mae Colbert recently set the record for the 100-meter dash – and she’s 100 years old.

Just 46.791 seconds later, Colbert crossed the line and made history, inspiring much of the younger generation present.

It’s the same district where she taught decades ago. She was winning many of her races back then, but chose to quit because the school was receiving all the recognition. She recovered, danced at the start line, and briskly moved down the homestretch of the track in front of dozens of spectators. “I knew she could do it”, Humphries said. “Maybe I should have jumped up and down or something before I started”, she said.

“I thought we might as well try it and see what happens. Ella Mae!” as she ran on the track.

In the meantime, Colbert is waiting for the Guinness Book of World Records to confirm the record.

“I’m glad that you came”.

“Don’t let it get you down. Most of you got to do good, do better and do your best”. “What an awesome testimony to these kids that when you fall down, you get right back up and you keep going”. “You’ll have some trials and you’ll have some things get in your way but you don’t let it get you down”.
