CBS brings back MacGyver this fall

CBS, announcing a fall schedule that CEO Leslie Moonves said was the most hard in years to finalize, slotted in three new comedies, pivoting back to a comedy-rich Monday lineup after last year’s laugh-free experiment.

“King of Queens” star James plays a just retired police officer in “Kevin Can Wait”.

“Bull” casts Weatherly as Dr. Jason Bull in a drama inspired by Dr. Phil McGraw’s trial-consulting career.

“Mom” remains at 9, leading into second-year comedy “Life in Pieces”.

8 p.m.: “MacGyver”: Remake of the late 1980s series with Lucas Till (“X-Men: Apocalypse”) as the title character, who gets recruited to help prevent disasters. “For now, his plans for a cushy life will have to wait, because Kevin has work to do, and this time, his family is his beat”.

TUESDAYS – NCIS, television’s No. 1 drama for seven years with over 20 million viewers, returns at 8 p.m., providing the flawless lead-in for former NCIS star Michael Weatherly in his new legal drama, Bull, at 9 p.m.

MACGYVER, a reimagining of the classic series, is an action-adventure drama about 20-something Angus “Mac” MacGyver (Lucas Till, pictured) who creates a clandestine organization within the US government where he uses his extraordinary talent for unconventional problem solving and vast scientific knowledge to save lives.

After football, “Kevin” moves to 8 p.m., followed by Matt LeBlanc (“Friends”) in “Man with a Plan”. The Big Bang Theory will be on the schedule in September, and will kick off on Mondays acting as the lead-in to new series Kevin Can Wait until it shifts back to Thursdays in October. In addition, both “The Amazing Race” and “Undercover Boss” are held for midseason, along with the new unscripted series “Hunted”.

Sunday will launch with “60 Minutes” at 7 p.m., followed by “NCIS: Los Angeles”, which moves from Tuesday. A Silicon Valley billionaire (Augustus Prew) hires a maverick surgeon (Dermot Mulroney) to run a hospital.

WEDNESDAY: 8, Survivor; 9, Criminal Minds; 10, Code Black. The show will air in the 10 p.m. timeslot.

Canceled: Angel From Hell, CSI: Cyber, The Good Wife, Mike & Molly, Person of Interest and Rush Hour.

Premiere dates for the new and returning shows have yet to be announced, with the exception of the Thursday night shows, which will return on October 27.

FRIDAY: 8-9, “MacGyver”; 9-10, “Hawaii Five-0”; 10-11, “Blue Bloods”.
