Harish Rawat wins vote of confidence 33 to 28: Cong MLA

An ecstatic Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi said that democracy has won and he hoped that the prime minister will “learn the lesson”. BJP MLAs, who were the first to come out of the assembly premises which was out of bounds for the media, said they could bag 28 votes. We did our best.

Appearing on behalf of the Centre, Attorney General told the apex court that it has been proved that former chief minister and Congress leader Harish Rawat has proved majority on the floor of the House.

Another party MLA Rekha Arya gave her support to BJP in the floor test yesterday taking the number of MLAs revolting against Rawat to ten.

After the floor test on Tuesday, Rawat had refused to reveal the results but he and other Congress leaders flashed victory sign as they walked out of the Assembly.

After the trust vote, the Congress claimed victory. The Congress camp had needed 31 votes for a majority in the 70-member Assembly, with nine rebel MLAs barred from the process following a court verdict.

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court bench announced the results after studying the records filed by Uttarakhand’s Principal Secretary for Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs, who had supervised the trust vote under the court’s order. Using words that made it very clear that he had won, he said: “Uttarakhand will be victorious tomorrow (Wednesday)”.

The central government led by the BJP has revoked President’s Rule in Uttarakhand.

Followed by the President’s rule, the Harish Rawat Govt. filed case opposing it in the Uttarakhand High Court.

Harish Rawat says that he has not thought about this and will work for the welfare of the people of Uttarakhand.

“I am grateful to the honourable Supreme Court”.

Harish Rawat welcomed the decision of revoking President’s rule in Uttarakhand by the Central Government.

He said the party will launch the second phase of its remove corruption, save Uttarakhand (Bharshtachar Hatao Uttarakhand Bachao) campaign to go to people and expose Rawat government’s “corruption”. “This is a big setback to the anti-Constitutional conspiracy hatched by the BJP of trying to topple the government in the state and impose its rule there”.
