Despite the illness spreading on the Balmoral, which came into port Sunday morning, businesses are excited that cruise ship season has finally begun.

The only thing is it just does not get reported. Only bleach-based cleaners can eradicate it. Symptoms can develop within 12 hours of exposure and sometimes also cause a low-grade fever, headache, muscle aches and fatigue.

The viruses are found in the stool and vomit of infected people.

Now on its way to the Canadian province of New Brunswick, the ship has undergone inspections by the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), according to the ship’s owners, Fred.

Six years ago, approximately 293 out of 1,163 passengers aboard the Balmoral on a world cruise from Dover were also struck with diarrhea and vomiting.

Officials from the Fred Olson did not respond to eTN requests for comments. After its course to the U.S, the cruise is expected to reach Britain back on May 20, 2016. “The ship’s staff typically notifies our port security director upon arrival when there are large volumes of passengers with the virus”.

Fred Olsen Cruises who operates the cruise ship, report was initially made on the 29, of April.

“It’s certainly something that we’re watching and what our advice to people is is that handwashing is really the best defence against any sort of gastrointestinal situation”, he said.

In 2010, at least 310 people on board the ship were reported to suffering diarrhoea and vomiting when it docked in Los Angeles. This incident was not the first case of gastrointestinal outbreak inside the vessel. Olsen Cruise Lines’ Balmoral continued over the weekend, the BBC reports.

The CDC has recommended increased cleaning and disinfection procedures to the management and staff. Fred Olsen said it it cooperating fully to keep the problem from spreading further.
