Trump Gets NRA Endorsement, Says He’ll Ban Gun-Free Zones
The gathering offered Trump another chance to cement his conservative bona fides and calm the nerves of establishment figures wary of the reality star’s shifting views on guns.

This Trump walks the part of a courageous guy who tells it like it is – while he says whatever unsafe drivel the loudest crowd wants to hear.
Question: Should we end gun-free zones?
“We’re getting rid of gun-free zones, OK”, said Trump, arguing that the victims were killed because they were barred from carrying weapons and therefore could not defend themselves. I can tell you. NRA-ILA spokeswoman Jennifer Baker also pointed to anti-NRA comments Clinton has made in the past, including naming the group among her “enemies” during a Democratic debate.
The case overturned a long-standing handgun ban in the District of Columbia, marking the first time the Supreme Court held that the Second Amendment protected an individual’s right to own a firearm for lawful purposes such as self-defense in the home.
In his 2000 book, The America We Deserve, Trump wrote that while he generally opposes gun control, “I support the ban on assault weapons and I also support a slightly longer waiting period to purchase a gun”.
Trump, who days earlier released a list of his potential Supreme Court nominees, called on Clinton to do the same, saying the Democrat’s list would be “night and day” from his. He also said he expects the next president to appoint between three and five justices to the high court.
While the timing of the NRA’s endorsement of Trump seems late in the game, the report reveals that it’s quite contrary to the organization’s normal pattern in presidential politics.
“The Second Amendment is something that’s in jeopardy in this election cycle”, Perry said.
“To get the endorsement, believe me, is a fantastic honor”, Trump said, adding that he and his sons are members of the NRA.
“The only way to save our Second Amendment is to vote for a person you all know named Donald Trump”, Trump said.
“She wants us to live in a place where only law enforcement has guns, and everything is free: free meals, free healthcare, free education”, he said.

Chris Cox, executive director of the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action, and Wayne LaPierre, the executive vice president of the NRA, both spoke to the convention prior to Trump, encouraging their members and all Republicans to unite.
