It was just yesterday that Captain America: Civil War crossed the milestone $300 million domestic mark.

Disney’s fifth weekend of “The Jungle Book” continued to show remarkable staying power with $17.8 million at 3,970 locations for a second place finish.

It’s “Captain America’s” weekend at the box office once again by a large margin, but even with $72.6 million in earnings, the superhero pic left some room for other newcomers like “Money Monster”, “The Darkness” and “The Lobster” to play, according to comScore estimates Sunday.

Disney shares have declined 5.8% since Tuesday, but are flat today. Money Monster did exceed projections, yet still came in third with $15 million. Chapter two in the DC Extended Universe franchise ended up with $166 million for its opening weekend, about $13 million less than Civil War.

“We’ve been on that [Marvel] journey from Winter Soldier, and it may have been some story points from Civil War that caused the civil war within Marvel”, Joe Russo told The Business.

Civil War is getting closer and closer to breaking the all-important $1bn barrier at the worldwide box-office, after another strong weekend that saw it take $158m. South Korea is second with $60.1 million, followed by the United Kingdom at $46.7 million, Mexico at $39.2 million and Brazil at $32.9 million. The comedy-adventure declined a mere 27% from the previous frame and will wind up the weekend with more than $311 million domestically. The good news, however, is that Mother’s Day has performed well above expectations, earning $28.6 million in North America so far. That puts the live-action reboot at nearly $312 million domestic and $828 million worldwide.

Two new movies debuted in the third and fourth positions.
