McGregor: Mayweather needs me, I don’t need him
“Seeing the press conferences take place, I was like, I should’ve just jumped on the [darn] flight”. “The leak came out and it was him that leaked the rumour, and I said, ‘He gets $100million and I get $7m?’ That’s a pay cut to me; I don’t take pay cuts”.

“If he is talking 100 million, I am also talking 100 million”. I thought boxing is where the money is at.’ The $7 million is absolutely laughable. He needs me. I don’t need him.
Although things seemingly went well with McGregor, TMZ reported on Friday that Dana White got up and stormed out of the lunch meeting with Diaz and his manager, Lloyd Pierson. “So he needs me”, McGregor said. “It was fun. Seeing it all blow up like that, it was amusing for a while”.
“Who doesn’t want to conquer both worlds?”. I was like “all right well f**k you too, then”. I just wanted to do reasonable media, and then, hey, all of a sudden, ‘Conor, it’s three months from the fight, we’ve got to drag you (onto) 40-hour flights to come and do a runaround, New York, Vegas, California, 70 press conferences, 70 talk shows, adverts, all of this, ‘ and it’s like, I already made you $400 million last week.
McGregor admitted that his use of Twitter as a platform to break the news of his retirement and then subsequently claim that he was back on UFC 200 started off as “just a bit of fun”.
It’s now unknown when McGregor, who last fought at UFC 196, will return to the Octagon. “But sometimes you’ve got to do what’s right for you, and not do what’s right for everybody else, and especially if you’ve done what’s right for everybody else a million times over, you should have the right to be able to do what’s right for you sometimes”.
McGregor said he is willing to fight Mayweather under the rules of boxing, since pugilism is well within his multi-faceted set of combat skills. You should have the right to do what’s right for you sometimes. It was revealed that McGregor did not want to shoot the commercials for his UFC 200 match.
He’s getting old now. “I have the size, I have the reach, I have the height, I have the youth”, McGregor said.
McGregor addressed the tweet that sent fight fans worldwide into a frenzy, when he announced his retirement from mixed martial arts.
He added: “I don’t care about rules”. What followed was a public back-and-forth, with the organisation highlighting the importance of media events and how other fighters don’t seem to have a problem with them. “I will put aside many other forms of fighting that I practice in, and I will focus on one particular craft”. There is so many spinning plates in this game. McGregor and Diaz could possibly have a rematch at UFC 202 in August.
