Meet the supermom: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
This is definitely good news for the Ash starrer which had a worrying start but now it has expanded its business on day two by almost 23 percent. On the other hand, a fiery actress like Richa Chaddha, who plays Sarbjit’s wife, is kept largely in the background and given only a momentary outburst to justify her presence.

Actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be seen playing Dalbir Kaur, Sarabjit’s sister, who suffered many difficulties in trying to get her brother released. Although once caught, Sarbjit did not have much of a choice in the matter, yet, Kumar wants to bring out and give us the The Passion of The Hooda. As the story winds on, her speeches become more grandiose and simplistic; at one point, she challenges the Taliban, declaring “Hum Hindustaniyon ne peeth dikhana seekha hi nahi hai“. Kudos to Randeep Hooda, who after donning glamorous roles in Jism 2 and Murder 3, has put on the character of Sarbjit so intensely and effectively. Although she barely speaks, her eyes do the job.
“I work with L’oreal it’s their prerogative and I am cool about it”. On Saturday, no traces of being a superhit film had been observed in the box office. He tries hard to come off as a character that should win your heart but he doesn’t. The primary problem is the casting of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Dalbir.
He wants the audiences to feel everything in one film, right from the “bhai-behen ka pyaar”, the raw treatment given to convicts in jail, the power of “candle-light” marches and “Bhook Hartals” in India. My current favourite song is “salamat”. On the other side, his sister Dalbir Kaur struggles for 23 years to release him from jail, which basically the basic plot of the film. Also, the scenes such as the Pakistani lawyer taking Dalbir to a mosque after she loses the case are too outstretched from reality. Sarabjit died in a gruesome assault in jail. She went with hardly any cosmetics, determining to let her natural complexion speak for herself and wore a matching pair of gold coloured high heel.
Sarbjit indeed does have a noteworthy story to narrate, however, fails to do so in an inspired and riveting manner. Captures pain, pathos, emotions meticulously. All hell breaks loose after Sarbjit accidentally crosses the border after getting drunk and is taken captive by Pakistani Army.
The Bachchan family – Amitabh, Jaya, Aishwarya and Abhishek – along with numerous celebrities from the film industry were present at the premiere of Aishwarya’s film Sarbjit here on Wednesday night.
