There are millions of apps in use around the world, but which ones are the best?

Google chose Houzz, a popular interior design app that looks to inspire with photos of homes, connection to architects, contractors and designers and shop for home You can use the smartphone camera to take a picture from a product page and insert it magically into your room to see how it will look. The company also live-streamed the ceremony. The Google Play Awards winners were selected by a panel of experts at Google, rated on factors including launching or having a major update in the past 12 months, app quality, and innovation out of five Play Award nominees across ten categories. It’s competition? Colorfy, BuzzFeed News, Yummly, and TuneIn Radio. NYT VR contains a series of videos created by the New York Times staff and transposed into virtual reality. Google then also nominated certain apps that reflected a group of developers who were reportedly taking the best advantage of Google’s services, for instance, “Best Use of Google Play Game Services”, and those who did the best job of implementing Google’s latest design language, the Material Design. After a tight race against Alphabear, Clash of Kings, MARVEL Future Fight, Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, the new game from Supercell Clash Royale won the Best Game Award.
Google also took note of which apps followed its Material Design guidelines the best, and the victor is Robinhood, a simple stock trading app. The categories were Standout Startup, Standout Indie, Best Families App, Best Use of Material Design, Best Use of Google Play Game Services, Early Adopter, Go Global, Most Innovative apps or games, Best App and Best Game. Finally, Hopper won for “Standout Startup”.

This week has been a big week in the world of Google and Android, and while some of the bigger announcements have been around Android and of course the Play Store coming to Chrome OS, smaller news has been important as well. Users will also be able to send feedback through these Play Store listings too, which is much more convenient. Talk about app addiction.
