Tense Clinton Kentucky win derails late Sanders push

Bernie Sanders’ top supporters said party leaders and the Hillary Clinton campaign must give backers of the Vermont senator a chance to be heard at the national convention this summer if they expect the party to unite behind her. The odds of this happening are very remote, though it is mathematically possible.

In a sign of the tensions, Sanders issued a defiant statement dismissing complaints from Nevada Democrats as “nonsense” and said his supporters were not being treated with “fairness and respect”.

Lange’s service as Nevada Democratic Party Chair is voluntary. Sanders, who has built up a significant amount of popular support, could win voters who might otherwise support Clinton.

Sanders did well in Kentucky’s more rural areas – coal mining-heavy regions similar to those he captured last week in the West Virginia primary. Seven have declared they back Clinton. I think she can.

“That’s right, Donald Trump can bring people together and not just washed up celebrities”, joked Meyers. While it’s generally accepted that Donald Trump will walk away with the Republican vote since all of his opponents have dropped out, the race between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders for the 61 delegates is going down to the wire. That is, if the superdelegates don’t change their minds, which they are all entitled to do.

Yet, Democrats didn’t favor Sanders, who won 56 percent of the vote, as strongly as President Barack Obama, who won 59 percent in the 2008 primary over Clinton.

While some criticize the senator for not having stronger words for a minority of his supporters who acted violently and threateningly after the Nevada caucus, Bernie knows that the majority of those who support him are only looking for the honesty and integrity that they know the Democratic party can have.

“I’m not one of those people (to say), ‘Tell Bernie to get out, ‘ ” she said.

Asked on Fox News Tuesday night about the invitation, she declined to weigh in.

Superdelegate Lupita Maurer came out for Sanders after his win Tuesday, and was delighted to do so.
