“[This partnership] is probably more significant than either Team17 or Playtonic fully realise right now”.
“Team17 has vital expertise in taking advantage of releasing a recreation”, Playtonic studio head and artistic lead Gavin Price informed MCV. Team17 will not only be handling digital publishing, but are also looking into publishing physical versions of the game too.
“There is a large demand for a physical game”, Team 17’s Debbie Bestwick said.
For fans, this means that Playtonic Games can focus on actually developing the game, while Team 17 handles all the technical aspects related to distribution and getting the game ready for the public. Weve been following their Kickstarter campaign with interest and are delighted to welcome them onto our label and into the Team17 family. “Now, Playtonic has announced a partnership with publisher Team17 (of [a href=” class=”local_link” >Worms fame) – a little odd considering one of the main reasons people take to Kickstarter is to free themselves of greedy publishers. It follows heroes Yooka and Laynee, who will use an arsenal of special moves like Yooka’s tongue grapple and Laylee’s sonar blast, as they explore and expand 3D worlds filled with collectibles and secrets.
Plans at present are for the Yooka-Laylee to be released in October next year and Godisageek is very excited to get it’s hand on it.

The highly anticipated project will feature environments and characters designed inspired by the genre’s most beloved classics, plus a soundtrack composed by David Wise (Donkey Kong Country), Steve Burke (Kameo: Elements of Power) and Grant Kirkhope (Banjo Kazooie).
