Additionally, Kuo predicts a 13-inch notebook will join the 12-inch notebook in Apple’s MacBook lineup.

Popular Apple-centric blog 9to5Mac in conjunction with their sources and Ming-Chi Kuo, a reliable Apple analyst at KGI Securities, has reported that Apple is working on overhauling the MacBook Pro.

Both reports said Apple aspires to make the MacBook Air the “entry-level option”, the MacBook a “mid-tier choice”, and the MacBook Pro a “high-end variant”. At the top of the list is an OLED display “touch bar” strip above the keyboard which could offer more, and programmable, functionality beyond what conventional keys can give.

This outlandish claim of an OLED touch bar might not be as far fetched as it sounds. It is said that by Q3 2016, an 11-inch and 13-inch will be released, packed with speedy I/O technology, Touch ID fingerprint recognition technology, and more.

Along with the lighter and thinner body, the MacBook Pro will also get TouchID support, and likely Force Touch support as well, keeping in tune with the 12-inch MacBook.

The MacBook Pro 2016 are expected to be the crown jewel of Apple’s notebook family and thanks to the latest report, this notebook family is going to get even better thanks to a slimmer and lighter form factor and might we add, two insane features that have not been seen on any MacBook Pro model as yet. Notably, its metal injection mold-made hinges and butterfly-mechanism keyboards. The refresh will obviously include the expected bump to the fastest and latest processors (Intel 6th Generation, Skylake processors), USB Type-C support (and Thunderbolt 3) and maybe an updated display.

When it comes to connectivity, the next Apple MacBook should come with all the new ports you’d expect, too.
