One poll released Sunday, The Washington Post-ABC News survey, showed Trump with a narrow edge, while an NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll had Clinton with a slight lead.

Sanders has argued for months that Wasserman Schultz and the Democratic National Committee, which she chairs, have favored Hillary Clinton in the presidential primary -including with an initially limited debate schedule.

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s (D-FL) primary opponent Tim Canova appears on MSNBC to combat the “myth” that she is popular in the state of Florida.

But Mr Sanders has ignored growing Democratic calls to step aside and repeated his vow to stay in the race until the party’s July 25-28 nominating convention in Philadelphia despite Mrs Clinton’s almost insurmountable lead in pledged convention delegates who will choose the nominee.

Sanders also told Tapper that if he’s elected president, he wouldn’t reappoint Wasserman Schultz to head the DNC.

In a statement on Saturday, she said that “even though Senator Sanders has endorsed my opponent, I remain, as I have been from the beginning, neutral in the presidential Democratic primary”.

The fundraising email from the Sanders campaign called for a $2.70 donation to be split between Sanders and Canova, a riff on the average $27 donation that fuels the Sanders campaign.

In a series of television interviews, Sanders remained defiant despite what he acknowledged was an uphill fight to overtake front-runner Clinton. “We need real change”.

But both he and Canova face long odds of showing her the door.

Sanders has remained steadfast in his long-shot battle with Clinton for the Democratic nomination for the November 8 presidential election, even though he lags her in the delegate count with only a few state contests remaining.

Wasserman Schultz has defended the DNC’s stewardship of the presidential primary.

Sanders has not been shy in discussing his opposition to Wasserman Schultz.

On Wednesday, Jones told CNN’s Brooke Baldwin, “Debbie, who should be the umpire, who should be the marriage counselor, is coming in harder for Hillary Clinton than she is for herself”.

This is the first time DWS has had a primary challenger since she won her congressional seat in 2004.

Asked if the convention could be messy, Sanders said: “So what?”

Sanders, who has criticized Clinton for being too biased toward Israel, has named a pro-Palestinian activist and a prominent environmentalist among his picks for the committee.
