Reportedly rich UCLA, Under Armour deal shows where the brand is heading

SEC teams may be the most dominant in the nation, but UCLA is apparently the most lucrative.

Under Armour (UA +2.3%) is about to sign the largest sponsorship deal in college athletics history, according to ESPN’s Darren Rovell.

The Bruins and Under Armour will reportedly announce a 15-year, $280 million deal on Tuesday, ESPN.com reported. Last October, Auburn signed a nine-year extension with Under Armour – which had partnered with the Tigers since 2006 – to run through June 2025. In January, Ohio State said its 15-year deal with Nike was worth $252 million.

UCLA will receive $15 million in cash up front and another $11 million each year in rights and marketing fees, the L.A. For comparison, the second-ranked school when Texas inked its contract with Nike last October to jump-start the massive numbers was MI at between 10.1 and 10.9 million per year, as noted by Kurt Schwerman of Campus Insiders.
