Alphabet Inc. (GOOGL): Google Play Store Will Get Family Library in July

So, though there weren’t too many surprises on Android N front at Google I/O this year, the company did announce a few more features coming in the next Android OS. Not every app will work flawlessly, of course, as the Chromebook will need to have any hardware the app requires to function.

In a report by USA Today, Google announced the new app at the I/O developer conference in Mountain View, California on Wednesday. This means that the apps that you were running on your phones and tablets will now run on Chromebooks as well.

But now that Google is bringing support for Android apps to Chrome OS, is there a future for those operating systems?

But Microsoft should be anxious they say, because the pressure was on and Google’s slow-but-steady attack was bearing some real results, and it was not great news for Windows 10. The Android N also has a JIT compiler which will improve battery life and allow apps to be 50% smaller and to be installed 75% quicker. Opening the app will be as fast as loading a Web page, which is more convenient for users carrying out tasks in their Android smartphones and tablets.

Google has confirmed the longstanding rumour that its HTML5-powered Chrome OS platform is getting native support for Android applications, but warns that devices older than about two years are going to be left out in the cold. Moreover, the lack of access to a keyboard or mouse also limits the functionality. The launch of Play Store will let you make Skype calls, download and use Android apps and play Minecraft or Clash of Clans on your Chromebook.

Third, the “Multiwindow” will now come to many Android devices, not only to some Samsung and LG phones.

Moreover, with the account connectivity, work being done on a specific app or even progress made in a game can be continued on any device, anywhere. Have any of you played around with a Google Cardboard or even the GearVR?

This initiative does not only help users, it would also boost the user base for Chromebooks.
