PlayStation Neo to Be Released in Q4 2016?

One possibility is that Sony believes PlayStation VR will give the console a sales boost. The smaller the chips are, the more efficient, faster and better they are.

Sony now boasts the best-selling video game console in history with the PlayStation 2, which sold a staggering 155m units across its lifetime. The game itself is not a particularly large one or something that would be considered a challenge for the PS4 to run, but it does look like it runs smoothly on the console.

The rumor alleges that this development essentially put Sony in a tough spot.

According to this report, AMD is preparing to streamline its production process to support new 14-nanometer FinFET transistors, as opposed to PS4’s 28-nanometer planar transistor.

Sony would normally be expect to just fit the old processor to just “fit the old chip to the new size”. Since the former would likely prove to be costly and a hassle, the latter updated hardware was chosen instead. All PS4 games will run on both systems, but the Neo may offer a slight edge in terms of overall performance.

There have been contradicting reports with regard to the NX’s release date. However, it’s not clear if people would be willing to buy a PlayStation 4 specifically to use PlayStation VR.

After realizing that they may have leaked an information pertaining to the soon-to-be-released upgraded console, Innelec Multimedia took down the said press release, and released a statement denying any official information about PS4k Neo launch. Sony’s E3 2016 presentation is sure to bring with it even more big game announcements, and perhaps Sony is counting on some surprise game reveals next month to increase interest in the PS4 even further.
