Eagles trade CB Boykin to Steelers

In 2014, the Pittsburgh Steelers were ranked 8 in passing yards given up per game with 246.

In Pittsburgh, Boykin joins a secondary where Cortez Allen and William Gay are the likely starting cornerbacks.

With that in mind, the team added to their current group of corners on Saturday when they acquired Brandon Boykin from the Philadelphia Eagles. Boykin probably would have left Philadelphia in free agency after this season.

Boykin has been one of the best nickel cornerbacks in the league since being drafted by the Eagles in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft.

Boykin is primarily a slot cornerback and last season he played a total of 524 snaps. The Eagles front office did well in this transaction to receive something for a player soon to be departing anyway.

Prior to the NFL, Boykin played for the Bulldogs from 2008-2011 and secured 159 tackles and nine interceptions during his college tenure.
