A Missouri man shot and killed his 8-month-old son during an argument with his wife, then fled with two of his other sons in a rental auto, St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department Chief Sam Dotson said Tuesday. The shooting happened around 2 p.m. Tuesday near an interstate in St. Louis.

Children in vehicle: Blase Crockett, 3-year-old black male, light complexion, mohawk hair cut, wearing navy shorts and a light blue shirt; Rycker Crockett, 2-year-old black male, medium complexion, low hair cut, wearing khaki shorts and a royal blue T-shirt. She said that Diata Crockett was trying to run them off the road while they went for help. The child was pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital in a private auto.

St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson said Diata Crockett is a convicted felon and may be wanted on a parole violation.

He’s suspected to be driving a 2014 black Hyundai Sonata with IL plates: V446952.

According to police, the family got into a rental auto when the mother said she felt coerced to get into the vehicle.
