Davis: Studies on Raiders move to Las Vegas are ‘positive’

Davis’ hope to move the Raiders stems from an inability to get a deal done for a new stadium in Oakland. The league is warming to the idea, a fact discovered as the Raiders are making Las Vegas a top relocation option. The NFL team owner has pledged to commit $500 million toward a new stadium and a “lifetime” commitment to Sin City.

Speaking about a potential move on NFL Network, Davis says he’s excited about the possibilities if the Raiders were to move from Oakland to Vegas.

“I bet you every visiting team would have a lot of fans going there for weekends”, Patriots owner Robert Kraft said.

If the team can’t reach a deal on a new stadium, “I want to support him”, Kraft added.

The NFL owners will meet Tuesday in Charlotte, North Carolina, but Las Vegas being a potential landing spot for the Raiders – or any other team – reportedly won’t be on the official agenda. The league’s attitude toward betting has evolved, according to Kraft.

“I’m excited about it”, Davis said, via Pro Football Talk. “Back then, any exploration of that [Vegas] was dismissed out of hand”. But there has to be a solution that’s developed, and it’s not just on us. Asking the core of your fanbase to get on a plane to see the team play may not go over so well.

Speaking to USA sports media, Kraft stated that Las Vegas’ association with gambling would no longer be a harm to the NFL’s reputation as the City had outgrown its reliance on the casino industry focusing on wider entertainment.

Before Davis can officially switch locations for the Raiders, he must get the backing of at least 24 out of NLF’s 32 team owners to secure a relocation approval, ESPN reported.
