Chewbacca mask video breaks record, 140 million views on Facebook
On the show James Corden read a letter to Mrs. Payne from the Star Wars actor, Peter Mayhew, who expressed his wish to meet Mrs. Payne when he visits her home state of Texas. At first, Corden was a bit miffed that Payne seemed more interested in playing with her new toy than in driving him to work, but he eventually relented and joined her (and Abrams) in donning the now-famous wookiee mask.

Payne said she headed to a Kohl’s department store in search of yoga trousers Thursday when she brushed the Chewbacca mask by mistake.
If you haven’t been on the “internet webs” since Thursday, you have probably missed out on the best four minutes of your life so far (ok, overselling, but you know what I mean). While Corden was criticizing Payne’s modified Chewie growl, Abrams stepped in, saying “I gotta disagree…”
While the “Happy Chewbacca” video is the epitome of what happens when you give humans social media, it is spreading some good cheer throughout the world.
A radiant Payne then beams, “I’m such a happy Chewbacca”, before again bursting into laughter.
After posting her video of her purchase of the mask, Panye has racked up over 141 million views thanks in part to her charm, joy and of course, her laugh.
Corden was not amused: “I have got places to go”.
“I wanted to prove to all my Facebook friends and family that that mask was mine”, Payne said. After putting on the mask, she began laughing with delight.

There’s so much to love about this segment, and it’s stuff like this that makes Star Wars the pop-culture phenomenon that it is.
