No date has been set for the trial. Cosby could face his accuser for the first time in court Tuesday.
Cosby has been free on $1 million bail since he was arrested December 30.
Former Montgomery County detective Katherine Hart read Constand’s statement aloud and answered questions regarding the edits Constand made to her statement upon reviewing a typed copy. That was within the state’s 12-year deadline for bringing such cases when charges were filed late last year, as an opinion piece in the New York Times (reg. req.) and the Washington Post (reg. req.) explained earlier. The judge dismissed that argument in February.
During the hearing, prosecutors presented a January, 2005 statement Constand had given to the police about the reported attack, in which she claimed Cosby invited her to his home and instructed her to wear comfortable clothes.
Bill Cosby arrives at the Montgomery County Courthouse for a preliminary hearing, May 24, 2016, in Norristown, Pa. “Good luck to you sir”, she told Cosby at the end. He told detectives they were over-the-counter Benadryl, an antihistamine that he takes to help him sleep. Cosby told authorities Constand never told him to “Stop” and never pushed him away, inferring the encounter was consensual, according to testimony. New evidence, including a deposition given by Cosby, were enough to move the case forward in Pennsylvania this year.
Those allegations have seen celebrity pals and millions more malign the legend who attained his greatest fame for his role as a lovable obstetrician and family man in the hit 1980s television sitcom “The Cosby Show”.
WNPV’s Pete Reinert was in the courtroom when the former detective read Constand’s statements concerning the incident at Cosby’s Cheltenham Township home.
A Pennsylvania judge has heard portions of the statement Bill Cosby’s accuser gave to police, leading to a felony sexual assault charge against the comedian.
Constand tried to pursue criminal charges against Cosby in 2005 but the then-district attorney Bruce Castor decided there wasn’t enough evidence.
For example, when recalling a visit to a casino where Cosby was performing, Constand said Cosby invited her to his room as he was going back. Norris said Cosby also told him he went to bed after he and Constand “petted”. She went on to talk about how courageous Constand is for holding Cosby accountable for what he allegedly did more than 10 years ago.
Mr. Cosby was charged by the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, which is located just outside of Philadelphia, with aggravated indecent assault.

Gloria Allred, who is representing some of the women but not Constand, was at the hearing on Tuesday and told reporters that the judge made the “right decison”.
