People in Kerala have high hopes of us: Pinarayi Vijayan
CPI-M leader and Kerala Chief Minister-designate Pinarayi Vijayan said on Wednesday the people have high hopes of the new government ahead of his swearing-in later in the day.

Kerala CM elect Pinarayi Vijayan, Tuesday, said that his government will work for all sections of the society irrespective of cast, creed and political differences. “Mr Vijayan adding he had not yet received the list of all the ministers and would meet the state Governor this morning after the list was ready”.
“People are seeing this government with a lot of expectations”, he said. Therefore, this would be a government that would give primacy to the welfare and progress of the entire population of Kerala.
Later, addressing media persons, Vijayan said the portfolios of minister will be announced after the swearing-in ceremony.
Vijayan, a man of few words and more known for his tough exterior, had pushed out former chief minister V.S. Achuthanandan, who was also aiming for the top post. CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury and Polit bureau member Prakash Karat will also attend the event. “It is the people’s cooperation which strengthens democracy”, he had said. “Perhaps they do not know my way of functioning”.

The 12 CPI (M) and four CPI legislators, who have been appointed ministers, paid homage at martyr’s column at Punappra Vayalar in Alappuzha to offer floral tributes and “Vayalar samadhi”.
