NFL Awards Super Bowls To Atlanta, South Florida And Los Angeles
The ecstatic Miami Dolphins owner said “the only thing better than winning the 2020 Super Bowl (bid) is playing in it and winning”. “Mercedes-Benz Stadium will be an outstanding venue for the game and with all of the attractions and hotel rooms within a mile of the stadium this is going to be the most walkable Super Bowl ever”.

The NFL announced Tuesday that Super Bowl LV will land in the City of Angels in 2021, and will be played at the yet-to-be-built Inglewood stadium that will soon host the Los Angeles Rams.
The NFL had made it clear that without renovations to the then-named Sun Life Stadium, Miami not only lost its spot in the Super Bowl rotation, it wouldn’t get any Super Bowls, period.
Los Angeles hosted the first Super Bowl in 1967 but has not staged the the game since the 1993 edition at the Pasadena Rose Bowl. Next year’s Super Bowl will be in Houston, while the 2018 game will be in the Vikings’ new stadium in Minneapolis. In 1969, Super Bowl III was played in Miami with the Baltimore Colts representing the National Football League against the New York Jets of the AFL, though the Jets won 16-7.
The Bid was presented by Miami Dolphins Hall of Famer and Super Bowl VIII MVP Larry Csonka. This will be the third Super Bowl hosted in Atlanta after the previous two in 1994 and 2000.
With the first of what figures to be plenty of Super Bowls in hand, the Inglewood stadium is also throwing its name in the hat for the 2022 Final Four, 2023 college football championship game and is part of the city’s bid for the 2024 Olympics.
Hall of Fame running back Larry Csonka was an ambassador for the Miami bid. “You can’t believe the number of people after the Super Bowl was there (in 2013) came up to me and said, ‘We have to have the Super Bowl here every year, not just every now and again, every year”, the Saints owner said.

The NFL has been eager to have a team in Los Angeles for quite some time and the Rams moved from St. Louis with Kroenke’s promise of a grandiose stadium – one that will be the most expensive in the league. Now, Los Angeles is pinning its hopes on the Rams. While the Super Bowl will be held in Inglewood, other official and unofficial events will be hosted throughout the region.
