Wayward Pines returns to FOX on Wednesday, May 25th at 9:00 EST.

After NBC bumped David Duchovny’s Aquarius from a standalone “event” to a budding series, Fox has followed suit by picking up Wayward Pines season 2.

He is the one person who can provide a unique bridge between the current world of Wayward Pines and the previous world that humans inhabited. Dr. Theo Yedlin (Jason Patric) – a new resident of Wayward Pines – awakens from suspended animation and finds himself in the middle of this rebellion, as he tries to understand what Wayward Pines really is and help preserve the endangered human race.

When the last season ended, a good chunk of the cast died and the town academy’s First Generation graduates have taken over and froze most of the adults. Ahead of the premiere, the FOX show released seven brand new promos featuring the series’ new lead, Jason Patric as Dr. Theo Yedlin, along with returning characters Sheriff Arnold Pope (Terrence Howard), Kate Hewson (Carla Gugino), Megan Fisher (Hope Davis), and more. Check out the videos below including the in-depth recap of season 1.

Based on the best-selling novel “Pines” by Blake Crouch and brought to life by suspenseful storyteller M. Night Shyamalan (“The Sixth Sense”, “Signs”), Season One of WAYWARD PINES ranked as Summer 2015’s No. 1 broadcast scripted series among Adults 18-49. There are definitely more abbies in the second season, but if what you liked about the first was the insidious unknown, that’s gone with little to replace it.

Not sure if you want to watch season 2? As it is, Chad Hodge who willed the first season to a relatively satisfying conclusion, is gone.

Outside the electronic fences, humanity’s other future is represented by a feral bunch referred to as “abbies” – for “aberrations” – whom the residents of Wayward Pines regard in the same light as humans on The Walking Dead regard “walkers”.

In “Volunteers”, the First Generation was featured, killing a number of people. Theo learns about the abbies by the end of the first episode and compels Jason to tell him much of the rest by the midpoint of the second. Unfortunately, the most disposable character is the one who isn’t likely to be touched for a while: the hero, whose journey is one that we’ve already been on.
