Dotson said the incident started as an argument in which Crockett’s wife told police she felt forced to get into the vehicle with three of their six children. Authorities say that when the woman tried to get out, Crockett fired a shot that police believe was aimed at her but instead struck their baby.
St. Louis’ police chief says the fatal shooting of an 8-month-old boy in which his father is the suspect began as a domestic dispute.
Investigators have found the 2014 Hyundai Sonata, but are still looking Crockett.
Children in vehicle: Blase Crockett, 3-year-old black male, light complexion, mohawk hair cut, wearing navy shorts and a light blue shirt; Rycker Crockett, 2-year-old black male, medium complexion, low hair cut, wearing khaki shorts and a royal blue T-shirt. “He’s following us”, Dotson said.
A Missouri father accused of killing his 8-month-old son and briefly kidnapping two other children is in custody Wednesday after turning himself in to his lawyer, police said.
“You need to turn yourself in”, said Casetta Crockett.
The mother and the Good Samaritan called police about the shooting and abduction while driving to the hospital with the wounded infant.
Dotson said Crockett possibly is wanted on a parole violation and was known to police in St. Louis and the region before Tuesday. “During this eleven-minute phone conversation that his happening, you hear them say in the auto that, ‘He’s trying to run us off the road”. ‘Talk to your attorney and come in ASAP. Diata R. Crockett, 34, has been charged with first-degree murder, first-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said. “You have to come in, if nothing else, you have to come in for your other kids”.
Dotson said Crockett has threatened suicide and violence against his family in the past.
