Ronaldo: I am staying at Real Madrid

Bale appeared on Cadena Cope and, as well as insisting Los Blancos are superior to Champions League Final opponents Atletico Madrid, discussed how he is finding life in Spain after three years.

The 31-year-old’s current deal expires in 2018 and he has been linked with Paris Saint-Germain and a return to Manchester United. “It would be smart of Real Madrid to renew my contract”.

Godin opened the scoring when the two teams faced off for the trophy in Lisbon two years ago but, after Sergio Ramos’ equaliser in second-half stoppage time, Madrid went on to claim a 4-1 win.

“This is incredibly important for us, for the club, for our fans”, Atletico defender Diego Godin said. “I can see no club better than this one”.

“I’ve had good moments, and bad ones”.

Zinedine Zidane won it all as a player but this is the Frenchman’s first senior role as a coach.

“I think we played a lot of times a year ago, league, cup, Champions League but I think a Champions League final is always special so it is different to a league game”. When asked about whether the Atleti players could make Real Madrid’s starting XI, Bale quickly said “no”.

“I enjoy playing through the centre, with the freedom, but on the left or right as well”, he said.

“I’m not thinking about retiring yet”, Bale responded, with a little laugh. “I feel more comfortable in the team, more involved and that has definitely shown in my performances”.

“They play always the same, behind the line of the ball, it is no coincidence that Barcelona and Bayern Munich were not able to win against them”, said Ronaldo.

One of the two defeats only Zidane has suffered in his 25-matches as boss came against Atletico in February.

“We know that we can do it, we’re confident, but it will be a hard match against a great team like Atletico”. That’s it. I’m going to face it as we must, with calm, dedication, patience, everything.
