Christie places 10th in latest, Trump-led GOP presidential poll

Yet it now looks increasingly likely that Trump will qualify for the first debate, with polling averages like RealClearPolitics showing him with a lead of more than 7.1 percentage points. His campaign did not immediately respond to requests for comment. According to the survey, just 3% of Republicans polled said they plan to support Christie, a drop from 12% this time past year. They would also discuss the debate on Twitter with each other and Northeast Ohio Media Group Washington correspondent Sabrina Eaton, who will moderate the conversation.

I saw this first-hand earlier this month at summit of born-again evangelicals in Ames, Iowa, where Trump repeatedly drew cheers from the crowd despite bumbling through a series of questions about his faith.

“The living embodiment of everything the Republicans were trying to exorcise from their party, just escalated down on their parade”, the Daily Show host smugly said before playing a series of clips of Trump being a wealthy, racist buffoon.

We’re seeking roughly a half dozen undecided Republican readers who’d be willing to share their real-time thoughts on the debate via Twitter as they watch it on TV. And everyone agrees it’s unworkable to have 16 or more candidates onstage debating at the same time.

Earlier this week, Fox News announced it would include all declared candidates in its August 6 debate.

He expects Trump’s numbers to fall as the race intensifies and scrutiny of his candidacy increases.

A Fox spokeswoman had no comment on criticism of the selection process. While debates have never been a good gauge of a potential president’s strategic decision-making or management experience, they are useful in exposing flaws and demonstrating communication skills.

“Is the arrangement ideal?”

The identities of the top 10 are to be released publicly late on Tuesday afternoon. Lindsey Graham and the most recent contender to join the race, Virginia Gov. Jim Gilmore, will not go totally under the radar. He is among the low-polling Republicans. And Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal are now nipping at Christie’s heels to make it into the main debate.

Fiorina said whatever happens, she will fight on.

“One person close to the Perry campaign”, Sherman adds, “told me that GOP fund-raiser and Ailes friend Georgette Mosbacher recently called Ailes on behalf of the former Texas Governor”. This is how you bluster your way back from four bankruptcies into being able to say with a straight face that you’re where you are because you perfected The Art of the Deal.
