The spokesman refused to answer questions on who Mr Cameron would like to see win in November but said there was no telephone call or meeting planned with Mr Trump, adding: “If one is proposed we will consider it”. He argued that she’s probably been called much worse during her career, though.

Trump called social media a modern-day way to fight back when someone says something he views as unfavorable. “I don’t think that’s healthy”, he said.

Teasing Tuesday’s interview, Kelly said she chose to focus on Trump’s “temperament”, especially when it came to women, including “yours truly”.

In the Fox News special, Trump also told Kelly that she would be surprised with the nasty tweets which he did not retweet.

Kelly refused to apologize for the line of questioning, arguing it was “tough but fair”.

There were some uncomfortable moments in the interview that aired Tuesday night. I mean, my whole life is a debate, but I never actually debated before and I’m saying to myself man, what a question and you have Bret doing his thing, so I’m saying to myself, I’ve got two hours of this? “I said, “If I can get through this debate with those questions, you can get through anything”. He seemed to signal that they had a new relationship after “you and I were having a little difficulty”. “I don’t want that to happen”, Trump said of the aftermath of the first Republican debate, when he and Kelly first tangled over his vulgar language towards women. Now, Trump has Kelly’s cell number, but he promised not to send her nasty text messages.

Kelly and Trump have had quite the year so far. Its a message he delivers to Megyn Kelly, the Fox News anchor who sat down with him for an interview months after he savaged her on Twitter and elsewhere.

Trump said he has regrets about the way he acted during his campaign, but did not elaborate.

And because Trump is himself, he felt obliged to discuss the fact that even though he thought the question was unfair, it made for good television. When Kelly asked about parents trying to raise their kids not to lob insults or act like bullies, Trump doubled down on the idea he merely replies to barbs.
