Help is on the way to address long lines and long wait times for travelers at Newark Liberty Airport on the brink of the summer travel season.

The Transportation Security Administration has ousted its head of security operations and put new leadership in charge of screening operations at a major global airport, but long checkpoint lines and travel headaches already pervading the busy summer travel season are likely to continue.
Johnson said the agency won’t relax its security efforts in favor of shorter lines, but the TSA is working with airports and airlines to allow their employees to help with some non-security issues at the checkpoints.
Neffenger said, “I’m very confident that we have dramatically improved our ability to do that and we focused specifically on the types of devices that have both been talked about in the news and those things that we see coming”.
According to reports, more than 220 million passengers are expected to fly this summer season, which Schumer says could greatly impact wait times at local New York City-area airports like JFK and LaGuardia-even the nation.
