The two teams just finished a three-game series Saturday, with the Tigers winning two of three.
No. 5 seed LSU had two runners thrown out at the plate in the bottom of the fifth inning and trailed the No. 12 seeded Tennessee Volunteers, 4-0, in the seventh inning of an elimination game of the Southeastern Conference Tournament opener in Hoover, Alabama.
Greg Deichmann tied the game with a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth and Kramer Robertson won it with base hit to left moments later.
Tennessee (29-28) held a 4-0 lead after six innings, but LSU (40-17) scored three times in the seventh. The victor plays No. 4 seed Florida in Wednesday’s late game at the Hoover Met.
Jordan Rodgers gave the Vols a 1-0 lead with an RBI single in the fourth off Austin Bain.
Hunter Newman (1-0) picked up his first win with two scoreless innings.
Junior left-hander A.J. Puk (2-3, 2.93 ERA) is expected to start for Florida.
