Bihar police today claimed to have cracked journalist Rajdeo Ranjan’s murder case by arresting five persons in Siwan district. Police are trying to find out whether there were others involved in the crime.
Kumar said all the five arrested persons are new faces as they do not have any criminal record. The bikes have been sent for forensic tests.
“The SIT was formed to probe into the case and till now, five people who have been arrested gave their statements and confessed to the crime”.
Police suspect criminal Laddan Miyan, a close aide of former RJD MP Shahabuddin, carried out the contract killing. During the probe, several time Shahbuddin’s name had surfaced as the mastermind and later, after the police raided his cell in Siwan jail last week, he was shifted to Bhagalpur jail.
Ranjan, Siwan district bureau chief of Hindi daily “Hindustan“, was shot dead in Siwan on May 13. Also 17 mobile phones and 20 SIM cards have been seized.
Asked about the involvement of Shahabuddin in the murder, the ADG said no one involved in the killing would be spared.
