Kenta Maeda blew up after four no-hit innings and was not involved in the decision as the Los Angeles Dodgers rallied to beat the San Diego Padres 9-5 in 17 innings on Sunday.

Kendrick started the inning off with a ground-rule double and two intentional walks later, Puig singled home the go-ahead runs off Padres reliever Luis Perdomo (1-1).
Justin Turner hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning that had given the Dodgers a 6-5 lead.
Two days after hitting a two-run walk-off homer off Jansen, Upton had a two-out triple that scored Wil Myers. “Melvin has been great”.
Yasiel Puig broke a 2-2 tie in the fifth with an opposite-field homer off Carlos Villanueva. “We had the opportunity”. Bethancourt, normally San Diego’s backup catcher, was originally in the starting lineup in right field, but was swapped for Jose Pirella after taking flyballs during pregame drills.
In the ninth, Puig hit a leadoff single against Fernando Rodney and took second on a wild pitch.

Rea allowed three runs and three hits in five-plus, struck out three and walked two.
The series finale will be tomorrow at Petco Park and first pitch is scheduled for 1:40 PM.
Puig was on second with no outs in the top of the 9th, and did not advance to third on a sacrifice bunt by Ellis that had his coaches and teammates scratching their heads in confusion. It was the only hit Kazmir gave up until Norris homered in the fifth to cut the Padres’ deficit to 4-3.
He didn’t allow a hit until fourth inning, and didn’t allow a run until the sixth inning. Danny Salazar (4-3) gave up four runs in 4 1/3 innings. He would allow a single and three walks.
Corey Seager extended his hitting streak to a career-high 11 games for Los Angeles.
The Padres took a 1-0 lead into the top of the seventh when Thompson followed an Adrian Gonzalez single with his seventh homer of the season – a 412-foot shot to right center off Padres starter Cesar Vargas.
Dodgers: LHP Alex Wood (1-3, 4.17) starts on Saturday night.
Gonzalez opened the inning by lining a single to left when the Padres deployed three infielders on the right side.
Padres: IF Yangervis Solarte (hamstring) continued his rehab assignment at Triple-A El Paso on Friday, and could rejoin the club as early as Sunday.

It would be foolish to say that just because of one game that an entire regular season – especially one in which 162 games are played before the playoffs even begin – could come back to life, but that might be the case, at least in the short-term, for the Dodgers.
