Cavs’ Jones punished for blow to Biyombo
The NBA docks pay for any games you’re suspended, but, per Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com, LeBron James has volunteered to “take care” of Jones’ lost salary for him. Being the nice guy that he is, LeBron has stated that he’ll cover that fine for his teammate.

On Sunday, the Cavaliers reserve was suspended for Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals for a groin shot on Biyombo at the end of Saturday’s 99-84 Game 3 loss. He was suspended by the National Basketball Association “without pay” for tonight’s Game 4, and the fine is equal to 1/110th of Jones’ 2015-16 salary.
James had volunteered to pay the fine before the amount was ultimately levied by the National Basketball Association. Jones’ $80.17 fine is less than his $127 per diem. The fine with a one-game suspension equals 1/110 of the player’s salary, which in Jones’ case is. yup, 80 bucks.
Cleveland signed Jones before its last regular-season game, and the veteran forward Jones only played one regular season game with Cleveland, earning around $8,800.
