“There’s a growing sense that the problem isn’t going away”, Peter Boehm told reporters at the summit.

He added that Trudeau has been pushing for the G7 leaders to join Canada in refusing to pay ransoms to kidnappers.
What does it take to get a phone call from Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau?
Duterte reaffirmed good relationship with Canada by apologizing to Trudeau over the beheading of Canadian John Ridsdel by the Abu Sayyaf in April this year.
The militants had been asking for a ransom payment in exchange for Ridsdel’s release before he was beheaded last month.
The bandits seized Ridsdel, Canadian Robert Hall, Norwegian Kjartan Sekkingstad and Filipino Maritess Flor from a marina on Samal Island in Davao del Norte province in September a year ago.
“We are partners and we will be partners for all time”, Duterte said he told Trudeau.
In a separate press conference also in Davao City, Duterte lashed back and minced no words in lambasting the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) ruling that he violated the country’s Magna Carta of Women arising his “rape joke” regarding an Australian woman missionary during one of his campaign rallies before the May 9 election.
Trudeau called on the people to “unite in a global celebration of diversity” while promising that the Government of Canada will aim to create an environment that’s “free from discrimination, and protected from hate propaganda and hate crimes”.
“I am aware there are Filipinos, a lot of them, working there”.
Well, Prime Minister Trudeau has found it – or at least a day of it – while on tour in Japan.
Ahmad says the government’s first priority is the safety and security of its citizens.
He said his administration would work hard to eliminate the Abu Sayyaf, which still holds several local and foreign hostages including another Canadian, as soon as he assumes office on June 30.
Muslim militants demanding ransom have threatened to kill three more hostages in their jungle base in the southern Philippines after Ridsdel’s beheading.
Trudeau earlier condemned the killing but vowed not to give in to the kidnappers’ ransom demands.

A senior official said at the time that the RCMP was conducting a criminal investigation into Ridsdel’s murder.
