Philippine president-elect blasts Catholic church, bishops
“Aren’t you ashamed of yourselves, you sons of bitches?”

Duterte and church officials have been at odds after the former cursed Pope Francis during his visit to Manila in 2015 resulting heavy traffic in all areas delaying Duterte’s trip.
The Catholic church also recently said it opposed Duterte’s plan to reinstate the death penalty. He claimed he would curse less, and donate 1,000 Philippine pesos ($21) to Caritas Davao each time he did.
The outspoken Duterte, who had described his election as an referendum in which voters would choose between the Church and himself, promises to push forward with a “three-child” policy of family planning, over the opposition of the country’s bishops.
Speaking in Davao City yesterday, he said: “I only want three children for every family”.
“I’m a Christian, but I’m a realist so we have to do something with our overpopulation”.
I will destroy the Church and the present status of so many priests and what they are doing. He has stated his opposition to abortion, however.
“Bebot Bello was not nominated by the NDFP; that he was appointed by President-elect Duterte even before we submitted our list; and that we raised no objections considering that Bebot is a known patriot and has a track record of holding progressive views and positions”, Agcaoili said. He defied conventional political wisdom with his huge win in the presidential elections, after an incendiary campaign that saw his popularity surge on threats to kill tens of thousands of criminals and vulgar tirades against establishment figures. He has openly admitted to being a womanizer, and vowed to execute large numbers of criminals and dump their bodies in Manila Bay. “But she was so lovely, the mayor should have been first”.
Incoming President-elect Rodrigo Duterte said there will be no fancy celebration during his inauguration, will only serve finger foods to guests at Malacanang palace and will deliver only 5 minutes nationwide television address to spell out his governance.
The outspoken Davao City mayor notorious for his lengthy and invective-laced speeches also said his inaugural speech would last only five minutes and that there was no need for him to practice for the momentous event.
But Archbishop Oscar Cruz, the Archbishop Emeritus of Lingayen-Dagupan, responded to Duterte’s claims of hypocrisy in the Church by asking for evidence.
According to the Enquirer newspaper, Mr Duterte attacked the church after he learned that a woman who lived in a squatter camp just across from his favourite bar, After Dark, had given birth to her 10th child.
It is unclear whether he would be able to appeal against the decision or what punishment he might face under the law.
