Donald Trump claimed on Thursday to have secured the support of enough delegates to become the Republican presidential nominee, vaulting past the threshold of 1,237 needed to win the party’s primary race.

Republicans will finalise their nomination at a convention in July.

She still hasn’t, but CNN is reporting she and Clinton now communicate frequently, mostly about taking on Trump as she did in this blistering speech, declaring, “Donald Trump was drooling over the idea of a housing meltdown, because it meant he could buy up more property on the cheap”.
Meanwhile, New York Times reporter Jonathan Weisman has called on Trump to denounce the hateful rhetoric of his supporters, after being flooded with anti-Semitic tweets.
The #NeverTrump movement has seen some momentum in certain parts of the party.

Obama’s assessment of the presidential campaign came on the sidelines of a Group of Seven advanced economies summit in Japan earlier this week, the latest world gathering to be coloured by global concerns about Trump.
