JT: Falcao one of best I faced last season

But Terry claims the Colombia global played just as well as Tottenham’s Harry Kane, who scored a total of 31 goals, did against Chelsea last season and feels he will do a better job at Stamford Bridge.

While the Colombian struggled to make his mark during a loan spell at Manchester United last season, Terry has suggested he was one of the two more hard strikers he came up against in Chelsea’s title winning campaign and he is backing the striker to prove his worth in a blue shirt.

And Mourinho believes he compliments his team sufficiently well enough to merit a place in his squad.

That means getting as many players close to him as possible, removing the isolation factor he sometimes experienced at Manchester United and giving him the opportunity to become something of a “Super-Sub”.

“And especially in the season before I came, which was Rafael Benitez’s season, I thought “this guy’s finished” because he’s not playing finals, he’s not playing in big matches”.

He added: “We were losing against Barcelona“. I was not too anxious about the result because if I was I would have kept Eden on for the 90 minutes.

“We had a very exhaustive analysis of his condition before we made a decision, our doctor had real work to investigate all of that”.

“I like him a lot”.

“He was up for it, was hungry, his movement and first touch were both excellent”.

Mourinho normally plays with one striker but could use Falcao and Remy as part of a front two, or even the Falcao-Costa partnership that has potential to strike fear into defences. I like him a lot as a player. So, what happened at United was a huge let-down and raised questions over the knee injury he sustained previous year. We are happy with him.

Jose Mourinho believes new signing Radamel Falcao can rediscover his “super scorer” status, but insists he has full confidence in whichever striker he starts in Sunday’s Community Shield.

Jose Mourinho has revealed that he had doubts over the form of Chelsea captain John Terry when he returned two years ago.
