Sports Authority Begins Closing Retail Locations

The bankrupt retailer is closing all of its 460 stores, including the one at the Pueblo Mall.

The store has only been in its new spot for a couple months. He planned to give the jersey to his son as a birthday present.

The steepest discounts, of course, will be in the final 10 days.

“The Winrock ownership is aware of sports authority closing by the end of August”.

A construction timeline has not yet been announced.

Some media reports have indicated many Sports Authority locations will remain open through this August.

The following year, the store moved to its current space that previously housed a Mervyn’s department store.

“We may see a little bit more business out of it but not a huge amount”, he said. It’s been a great store.

The leases to be sold include 27 in Colorado, A&G said.

As of March, it had about 14,500 employees.

Struggling to pay off debt from its nationwide expansion, and also hurt by a weak economy and increased competition, the retailer initially planned to close about 140 of its weaker-performing stores and reorganize. But when it failed to reach a deal with creditors and lenders, it announced it would sell all its assets.

Sports Authority now has the corporate naming rights to Sports Authority Field at Mile High, the stadium where the Denver Broncos play.
