If convicted, Salling could face up to 20 years in prison.
According to the California U.S. Attorney’s Office, Salling has agreed, via his attorney, to “surrender” to federal authorities to face the indictment on June 3.
Actor Mark Salling arrives at the Premiere Of Twentieth Century Fox’s “Glee: The 3D Concert Movie” at the Regency Village Theater on August 6, 2011 in Westwood. This week, Salling was officially indicted for both receiving and possessing child pornography.
At the time, a rep for Salling said that Gorzela was simply trying to profit from her relationship with the actor.
He was taken into custody following the bust by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force unit and released after posting $20,000 (£13,700) bail.
Upon his arrest late previous year, authorities seized the actor’s laptop, along with an external hard drive, and a USB flash drive.
Joseph Macias, head of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations in Los Angeles, said in a statement to 9News.com said he hopes that the high profile case will serve to raise awareness of child sexual exploitation. “Young victims are harmed every time an image is generated, every time it is distributed, and every time it is viewed”.
In 2013, Salling paid out $2.7 million to settle a sexual battery lawsuit with a former girlfriend.
