Major European Developer Working On Xbox One VR Game For 2017

At least part of that success might be attributable to the fact that PS4 is more powerful than the Xbox One – and, if Polygon’s report is to believed, Microsoft has had just about enough of that shortcoming.

Kotaku’s article states that the 2017/2018 version, codenamed Scorpio, will have a 2TB hard drive, as well as an upgraded CPU.

According to Ars Technica, a studio is now working on a virtual reality game for the Xbox One.

One of the two consoles will be a slimmer Xbox One. If it’s not out till late 2017 then revealing the console too early will damage sales of the current Xbox One, so perhaps not. Apparently, Microsoft is aiming for a partnership with Oculus.

Polygon sources have confirmed yesterday’s rumors about two new Xbox models, which are reportedly releasing in August 2016 and fall 2017.

The groundswell of good news certainly bodes well for the console, as we edge closer to Microsoft’s E3 conference in LA.

A new rumor about a Microsoft project called Xbox Scoprio can join the other console rumors popping up ahead of E3 about an upgraded PS4 and whatever the Nintendo NX will be like.

Nobody can say any of this is guaranteed to be the case until Microsoft announce it, we will all just have to wait until E3 and see. Meaning, instead of huge hardware updates every five to seven years, consoles will release every 2-3 years, with full forward and backward compatibility across new versions. Forbes cites that the more powerful machine that can support Oculus Rift’s virtual reality features will have 6 teraflops. This Xbox version is said to be the slimmest Xbox One ever released.

“A tiered console strategy allows the companies to engage different user groups at different price points”, Harding-Rolls said.

According to a report by Kotaku, Scorpio will have a powerful GPU even though the specifications are yet to be finalized.

That is, of course, until next year, as new rumors are suggesting that Microsoft would unveil the Xbox Two, now codenamed Scorpio, next year.

This would make sense if Microsoft plans to remove the Blu-ray player with this new model.
