Virginia beats Louisville 7-2 at ACC Tournament
UVA had already been eliminated from contention for Sunday’s ACC title game when Clemson beat Louisville 5-3 in the first game Friday.

“I thought from an approach standpoint today out of the three games that we’ve played in, he made it the toughest on us to have a sound approach because his fastball was moving so much”, Clemson coach Monte Lee said.
“I don’t know. Like the sport of baseball, you can’t predict anything, and that’s something you’ve got to think about season by season”, Beer said.
The Tigers flexed plenty of power to solve Louisville starting pitcher Brandon McKay (11-3).
UVA pinch hitter Kevin Doherty (Sr., Laytonsville, Md.) hit a one-out infield single and moved to second on a throwing error, but Krall got the final two outs, including an Ernie Clement (So., Rochester, N.Y.) lineout to shortstop, to end the game. He’ll remain in the bullpen the rest of the week, Lee said. Bring the experience of the Augusta Free Press team to work for you – for a fraction of the cost.
Mike Triller belted a run-scoring double off the wall to tie the score at 1 in the top of the fourth inning, then the Demon Deacons responded with three runs in the bottom of the fourth, highlighted by Ben Breazeale’s two-run double.
After the Cardinals scored single runs in the third and fourth innings to lead 3-1, Rohlman hit a solo shot in the fifth inning.
Pat Krall (10-1) picked up the win, as he allowed no runs on one hit and no walks in 2 1/3 innings.
Clemson gained its first lead of the game in the sixth inning when Rohlman launched for his second home run of the day sending a solo shot out to right field. The Tigers scored four runs from the fifth inning through the seventh, which provided the difference in their victory.
Schmidt pitched 8 ⅔ innings, allowing eight hits with one walk and six strikeouts.
“But the other thing that I want to say is just my teammates been picking me up lately”.
The Cardinals struck first on Friday plating a run in the top of the second inning on a two-out RBI single by Rosenbaum against Clemson starter Clate Schmidt. The ball got by the catcher, and Bryant got a hand on home plate just before the tag. “It’s just a good team”.
Will Craig, Johnny Aiello, Joey Rodriguez and Nate Mondou also homered for the 10th-seeded Demon Deacons (34-24). It would not be til the 12th for anyone to score again when State took the go ahead 7-5 lead with a two run home run to put them up for good. Tommy Doyle (So., Vienna, Va) entered, and Andrew Cox bunted the runners over before Pinder hit a sac fly to center.
Liberty pitcher Jack DeGroat (4-4), who threw 122 pitches in seven innings to beat High Point in the first round, pitched a complete game and allowed just three hits and two walks with six strikeouts.
Now Wake Forest needs a win and a Virginia win on Saturday.

Georgia Tech was a fringe host for next week, but after a 1-3 showing in Durham, they can kiss that thought good bye. If Wake is unable to upset Clemson, the game will truly be meaningless to both teams.
