Marcus Rashford’s continued rise delights his England team-mates

Marcus Rashford has enjoyed a meteoric rise since breaking onto the scene for Manchester United back in February and the striker further managed to enhance his burgeoning reputation by scoring only 135 seconds into his debut for the England national team in their 2-1 victory over Australia at Wembley on Friday night.

Speaking after the game, however, Hodgson insisted that Sturridge’s injury would not affect his judgment when selecting his 23-man squad, but said that he would take “extra training” on Sunday. If it turns out his injury would keep him out the Euros or he would be unfit when we play Russian Federation, that might make a difference.

Rashford went off to a standing ovation and it was definitely deserved, he’s proven he has what it takes to make Hodgson’s final squad and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him included. The Premier League champion scored the victor in the 2-1 friendly win over Turkey in last Sunday’s Etihad Stadium encounter and was given the time off by Hodgson to get hitched before this summer’s Euros. On the very day that Jose Mourinho was officially (and finally!) named the new Manchester United manager, two of his inherited strikers delighted for the national side.

Leicester City’s Danny Drinkwater put in a full 90 minutes as Marcus Rashford became the youngest scorer on his England debut.

“I will be pretty confident that in two weeks’ time they’ll be even fitter than they are today”.

He added: “I got the answers I wanted”.

“Within, I don’t know how long it was, but it was early, he gets his first goal for England”. Over the moon for him.

“He’s a very good player, a good all-round player”, Henderson said of Rashford.

With Daniel Sturridge, Wayne Rooney, Jamie Vardy, and Harry Kane vying for the forward positions in Roy Hodgson’s squad, Rashford may find it hard to win his place in the group.

Jordan Henderson says he hopes Daniel Sturridge will be able to play for England again before Euro 2016 begins. But I thought Rogic, Mooy and the skipper [Jedinak] in the middle had outstanding performances.

“He’s got everything, good on the ball, good movement and good finishing”.

“You asked me before if I thought that he was capable of dealing with the situation and we got a resounding “yes”.
